Behavior and goal planning with YOUR involvement
Your child’s BCBA can address the skills needed for independent eating. Their specialized training would result in a meeting with you to discuss your ideal outcomes with that goal. Then, using behavioral analytic strategies, the BCBA could put in the programs to work on that goal, such as gripping the spoon, piercing food with a fork, bringing the food to their mouth, etc., resulting in independent eating for their child.
If there are any instances where an occupational therapist would need to be consulted, Assent Therapy ABA will reach out to create the collaborative relationship your child deserves.
First, your team will meet to discuss YOUR expectations and personal boundaries with the tablet. We are here to work on your goals, respecting your beliefs, cultural values, and house rules. Your child’s BCBA will work directly with your child to try out different behavior analytic strategies to best support the family, then train your child’s RBTs on the strategy being used.
Communicating strategies (can include vocal and other forms of communication like picture icons/ASL, etc.) will always be utilized to promote your child’s growth. Additionally, the BCBA will collaborate with the family during the entire process to ensure you are satisfied and understand how to implement the strategies being used.
Parent coaching will be a dedicated time where we break down any strategies your team is using so you are also involved. This can ultimately result in a much happier parent-child relationship, allowing your family to be more prepared for future challenges.
Dangerous behaviors that your child engages in are always a top priority for Assent Therapy ABA. We will immediately begin working with your family to hear your concerns and bring potential solutions right to your family. Together, we can take steps to ensure your child is safe while working on long-term goals to build up your child’s safety skills. We can discuss your family’s goals, such as playing in a park without worrying about your child’s safety or going grocery shopping without fear that your child will dart away.
Some examples of goals that could be targeted would be:
Here at Assent Therapy ABA, we pride ourselves on our personalized approach to our clients. We want to spend time on the goals that matter to you, helping in the ways you need most.
I always say the caregivers are the experts in the child. We are the experts in ABA. Together, we can do anything.
When we work together, we can utilize the science of ABA, develop a comprehensive team, and bring the family together in an incredibly meaningful way. I am passionate about ensuring you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to take on new challenges as they arise, even long after our collaborative relationship.
We can utilize the advantages of telehealth to break down barriers to care. Parent coaching is great for families who do not want or need intensive 1:1 ABA but seek assistance. Families who are waiting on an autism diagnosis or insurance coverage. Also, families who are looking for extra support for their child’s behaviors.
In parent coaching, we can work on goals such as:
Decreasing tantrums (crying, screaming, kicking, throwing objects, etc.)
Increase communication BEFORE problems arise
Reduce your child running away from you
Improve bedtime routines
Increase coping skills
Assess and implement pre-academic skills
